About Timothy Gieseke
Timothy M. Gieseke's interdisciplinary career spans over three decades of experience in landscape sustainability research and application. His unique perspective is built on a master's degree in environmental sciences combined with hands-on experience in agricultural production, governmental conservation planning, policy analysis at state and federal levels, and agribusiness management.
As a fourth-generation farmer and environmental scientist, Tim recognized the need for a transdisciplinary approach that enables practitioners and policy-makers to transcend traditional organizational boundaries. He is the original EcoCommercist - a term describing an ecological economist at the practitioner and market level.
Tim has authored three comprehensive books that outline the environmental, socio-economics, and governance frameworks necessary for instituting natural capital accounting systems and employing EcoCommerce®. His work integrates Adam Smith's economic principles with modern ecological science to create market mechanisms that value natural capital alongside traditional economic assets.
Through EcoCommerce® Company, Tim continues to develop and implement collaborative governance frameworks, natural capital accounting systems, and multi-stakeholder platforms that enable the transition to a truly sustainable economy where ecological and economic systems function as integrated biological organisms.
